This might be the best pizza place we've been to. The crust is perfect — crispy bottom, not soggy, stays crispy even with wet toppings. Beddia has competition.
"Order the Fungi. Then order it again."
The crust, explained: Pizzas are served on a pan with small raised bumps that keep the bottom off the surface — the result is a crust that stays fully crispy all the way through, even under wet toppings like hot honey. It's a simple technical solution that makes a real difference. They also serve Roman-style Al Taglio slices alongside the round pies.
Outstanding. You can smell the truffle before you even pick up the slice — and unlike so many truffle pizzas, you can actually taste it too. The mushrooms are deeply umami and earthy, layered and complex. The green chives are the perfect counterpoint: fresh, sharp, cutting through the richness without overpowering it. An exceptional pizza by any measure.
The fennel in the sausage and its natural sweetness are perfectly balanced. Hot honey and pepperoni work together well — and crucially, the crust stays crispy despite the honey, which is a technical feat. The ricotta dots round out the flavors without overwhelming. MW found it just ok; GA was more enthusiastic. A split verdict, but nobody left unsatisfied.
We had to try the thick crust to see how it compared. Three varieties in one order: a cheese slice (fine, missing seasoning — oregano from the shaker fixed it), a pepperoni slice (a touch salty, but the crust is excellent), and a tomato pie (the best of the three — oregano already on top, well balanced). The Roman crust is genuinely impressive; it's just a different experience from the round pies.

The bake score is the highest we've given. The bumpy pan is doing real work.
Pizzata is the best crust we've encountered on this project, and it's not particularly close. The bumpy pan that keeps the bottom off the surface is a detail that changes the entire eating experience — the pizza is crispy from first bite to last, even under hot honey. That's hard to do and most places don't do it.
The Fungi is exceptional: truffle you can actually taste, mushrooms that are genuinely complex and earthy, chives that balance rather than crowd. MW would score it a 9 in isolation. The Salciccia divides the panel slightly — the components work, but it doesn't reach the heights of the Fungi. The Roman Al Taglio slices are solid, with the tomato pie being the pick of the three.
This place and Beddia are the top two on this list by a distance. Beddia still has the edge on individual pizza quality at its best; Pizzata is more consistent across the whole meal, and the crust gives it an argument for the top spot.
"Order the Fungi. The Salciccia if you want a second. Come back for the Roman tomato pie."
